Lew Richmond and Peter Coyote to give benefit performance for people who are ill - Saturday, Nov. 10 at 2 pm, at the Community Congregational Church, 145 Rock Hill Dr. in Tiburon  -  Well-being Fund created

On Saturday, Nov. 10 at 2 pm, at the Community Congregational Church, 145 Rock Hill Dr. in Tiburon, the Vimala Sangha will be holding a fund-raising benefit concert for people close to us who are ill and in need of financial help. We hope we can make this an annual event, with different beneficiaries each year. This year we are focusing on Karen Geiger, one of our ordained priests who is suffering from a particularly aggressive form of ovarian cancer. Like many people in such circumstances, not all of Karen's needs are being met by her provider, and she has already had to dig deeply into her life savings to pay out of pocket for secondary consultations and clinical trials.

As many of you may recall, a few years back I teamed up with Alan Senauke to put on a fundraising concert to help Darlene Cohen. That effort was very successful and Darlene was able to use the proceeds to pay for a variety of treatments, some of which may have extended her life. The Nov. 10th event will be in the same spirit. We have set a fund-raising goal of $10,000 to help Karen now and help establish the fund for future beneficiaries.

Many of you have already sent contributions totaling over $4000 so far! Thank you!

Peter Coyote and I will be the performer / presenters. I will be playing some of my original piano solo compositions-including the premier of a new one-as well as a classical piece or two and some jazz and blues improvisions. Peter will be reading from the manuscript of his new¸ as yet unpublished book-and may do some other things as well.

Thank you!
