In September 2018 Ed was told by the Abbots Executive Group of Zen Center that they were "no longer inviting you to teach at Zen Center's three temples." On March 1, 2025, Ed was invited to give a Dharma Talk as part of a special series featuring former SFZC Tenzos during the City Center Spring Intensive.
