Dear David,
Last week you probably received in the mail our annual Pacific
Zen Institute pledge letter, and several days ago we sent out an
email with the letter and additional details. Today a donor has
stepped forward and generously offered $12,000 in a challenge grant
for the next 30 days to help us with our pledge drive. That means
whatever you contribute in the next month, the donor will match that
amount up to $12,000. This includes new memberships, increases in
yearly membership dues and contributions to both the general fund
and the scholarship fund.
The pledge drive is PZI's one major fundraising effort of the year
and its success is very important to our financial health and
stability. It gives us the ability to pay for expanded programs
including more retreats, which offer a way for those at a distance
to practice with us and to be a part of our community. Your
contributions not only support normal operating expenses, programs,
and teacher stipends; this year our goal is for this pledge drive to
fund a re-designed and expanded website, more sesshin scholarships
and long-awaited, much needed administrative support as well. If we
can work together and raise at least $12,000 in the next 30 days we
will have gone a long way toward meeting that goal.
Q: When would be a good time to respond to the pledge
drive?
A: Now would be a very good time.
Thank you again for supporting PZI.
